In this tweet the Scottish Conservatives admit that a majority in the Scottish Parliament is a mandate for indyref2 to go ahead:
As Owen Jones points out:
The Scottish Conservatives are declaring that a majority for the SNP will be a mandate for an independence referendum, contradicting the official line that Boris Johnson will simply block it.
Weird flex but ok
I hope the SNP and other indy parties are keeping this, as evidence that a majority is a mandate for indyref2.
The bigger the majority for independence within the Scottish parliament, the more political pressure there will be on Boris Johnson to accept the inevitability of indyref2. In particular, if independence reaches a supermajority (defined as 86 seats, which is 2/3 of the 129 seats in parliament), the pressure will become irresistable.
