Trump votes for Russia
In an unprecedented move, the USA under Trump has voted for Russia's invasion of Ukraine:
The vote was for resolution A/ES-11/L.10, which calls for a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine and in particular demands:
that the Russian Federation immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, and its demand for an immediate cessation of the hostilities by the Russian Federation against Ukraine
The shameful 18 countries that supported Putin
As well as Russia, 17 other countries supported the illegal Russian aggression against Ukraine, thus demonstrating that their governments are traitors against the human species. The full list of the shameful 18 is:
Belarus
Burkina Faso
Burundi
Central African Republic
North Korea
Equatorial Guinea
Eritrea
Haiti
Hungary
Israel
Mali
Marshall Islands
Nicaragua
Niger
Palau
Russia
Sudan
United States of America
Some notable votes
Looking at the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates), none of them supported Russia.
Six BRICS countries abstained: Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Iran, United Arab Emirates. It's notable that countries that're often seen as pro-Russia, such as China and Iran, and to a lesser extent India, chose to distance themselves from Putin.
And 3 BRICS countries voted for the resolution: Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia; as did 3 other countries sometimes seen as pro-Russia: Cyprus, Serbia, Slovakia.
It's shameful that 3 countries that're arguably part of the West (Hungary, Israel and USA) supported Putin and evil.
What Britain should do
I don't know if Britain gives aid to any of these countries, but if so it should immediately stop.
We should summon their ambassadors for a dressing down. While we need to keep diplomatic relations with the USA, and it may be useful to do so with Russia, it would not bother me if we broke off relations with the others -- if need be, we can talk to them via our embassy to the UN.
The British government should also introduce robust national security legislation -- if possible in conjunction with the two main opposition parties, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats -- that would:
immediately increase defence spending to 3% of GDP, with more increases later
immediately start reducing/ending dependence on US technology, particularly in the military
re-introduce the death penalty for treason
acknowledge that Russia has been fighting an undeclared war against us for decades, and therefore make supporting Russia tantamount to treason
make it illegal for MPs to be on the side of, support, or accept money from governments (or their proxies) any of the shameful 18 pro-Putin countries. In fact it should be severely illegal for MPs to accept large donations from any source, and certainly from foreign powers.
(Sadly, Keir Starmer has the backbone of a wilted lettuce, and will almost certainly do none of these things).
One MP in particular, the member for Moscow Kremlin Clacton, Nigel Farage, deserves particular scrutiny.
The question is very simple: is it OK for countries to invade other countries for territorial aggrandisement? In Britain and elsewhere we must chose a side: Ukraine and civilisation, or Putin and evil.

This is deplorable. We the people of the United States did NOT vote for this! You can have Trump, Vance, Musk! Take them please!
Declaring "supporting Russia" a crime "tantamount to treason" immediately makes me wonder just what things politicians will stretch to be "supporting Russia." I'm remembering how, just after Putin first invaded Ukraine, Russian emigres were often booed in the streets and fired from jobs even when they'd opposed Putin. Back then, a lot of people would consider employing a Russian person as "supporting Russia"!
Stretching this to include supporting "countries on the side of Russia" makes me even more worried, especially after your post has argued that the United States is now on the side of Russia!
For one example of how I can see this stretched - which has a lot of precedent in money-transfer laws: You offer subscriptions through Substack. Substack takes a cut of your subscription money. They're a United States company. Are you therefore "supporting" the United States? A country which you have just said is "on the side of Russia"?
I'm not indicting you for this at all. (I'm an American; I'd be hypocritical if I did!) What I'm arguing is that you should be a lot more precise when arguing to create new crimes. I support the Ukrainian cause too, but your advocating vague and dangerous new crimes detracts from your main case.
