During last summer’s riots in the USA, some people in a flat (I guess Americans would say “apartment”) took some footage of rioters on the street below. They were surprised when they got a brick through their window.
The people in the flat might be on the rioters’ side, but I don’t think the sentiment is returned. Some takeaways:
just because you think you’re on someone else’s side, doesn’t mean they think they’re on your side
people who go on violent demonstrations (i.e. rioters) are less likely than the general public to respect others’ property
if you choose to be on the side of bad people, don’t be surprised when they behave badly towards you
