Hi, totally agree...what about the Turnout ? 44% for a bi-election in the context of Reform Uk taking a huge cut down south for a few months...

the "barrage " to the far right never happened here!?

Support for Independence doesn't mean nothing really in regards to the 2026 election. Doesn't mean nothing at all in terme of percentgae as there will be no vote on Independence and a "defacto election" (+udi) will mean nothing if snp, Alba, Liberate Scotland etc... don't unit behind an Indy manifesto and actually take It instead of begging for It. Percentgae for Indy goes along with political Indy Unity ( for the time of en election )

We are not far from a Labour (+ lib dem+ green) gvt in Scotland next year if Snp and Alba don't sort their s.... ..t, get their pride and their carrierist vision where they should be...

I would love it if the pro-indy parties got their act together and fought the 2026 election as a de facto referendum. This would fire up independence supporters in a way no ordinary election ever could: the 2014 ref had a turnout of 85%, far higher than any other election in Scotland this century.

During the last indyref, support for indy went up 18 points from 27% to 45%. It's now around 50% and if it increases by the same amount again, it'd be at 68%, delivering a resounding defeat to the anti-Scotland Westminster mob.

The problem is, Ponti, with all the dark money flooding UK politics, the danger is that this 'defacto referendum' could also be a resounding failure for the Independence lobby. There needs to be legislation limiting the funding of political parties from outside influencers like Musk and Russia. Reform is NOT the force it makes itself out to be, and the echo chamber of MSM making them out to be a 'force to be reckoned with' is just amplifying the right wing rhetoric.

Sky news analysis of the by election stated the SNP's fall from grace was largely due to the 'police fraud investigation' that ousted Nichola Sturgeon. Although 'cleared of wrongdoing' the taint of the allegations are still very much in voter's minds. Something is definitely amiss - the highest council taxes in the UK and services are not running as they should be. It doesn't take a genius to work out something needs to change. I'm not certain personally, Labour is the answer. Reform definitely isn't. I was surprised how badly the Greens did though. They clearly aren't taken seriously in this political stand off.

FYI any Government involving Reform would be a disaster for Scotland.

My post today:

“Kent is the home of Reform UKs first Elon Musk-style Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) unit, which has been set up to look at “wasteful spending” in councils.”

…The announcement on Sunday evening came as a surprise to many councillors, Mr Lehmann said, who claimed the move was a “barrage of distraction” from the “paralysis” the council is in.
